Spring 2017

As Summer rears its head here in Texas, Spring is starting to feel like a distant memory. I can’t belive its been six months since my last update! You can read my Fall recap here. I will admit this Spring has had a few ups and downs, which you will get a glimpse of below. I’m optimistic that Summer will bring better and brighter times.

Let’s start with the good. Me and Tommy celebrated our 11 year anniversary in April! I had this portait commissioned as a surprise gift. The artist Cloudy Thurstag is from Germany and her Etsy shop can be found here. She did an amazing job and I love the illustration to bits. I might make this a yearly tradition!

Then we have the bad and the good.  The bad (to say the least) : we somehow elected a misogynist cheeto as our President. I participated in the Women’s March here in Austin. It was very moving to see so many people come out and stand with women. It made me feel less alone and less scared to be with people who share my fears about our future as women in this country.

The very bad. Tommy was hit by a car whilst riding his bike to work. (He gave me permission to post this pic from the ER). Legally I can’t say too much about the incident, but let me just say that it was one of the scareist moments in my life. Tommy is still recovering and we hope over time will make a full recovery.

Man this blog post is turning into a real bummer. But you know, that’s life. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. People get sick (me for the last two damn weeks) and life can be stressful. But I always try to stay positive about the future, because what is the point on dwelling on the negative? This pic is of me and Tommy yesterday having a nice day at the park. Later that night we cooked out on the grill and hung out with friends. And to me that is what Spring should be.
