Winter is coming… and it’s about damn time! I’m so glad to be rid of this warm weather and break out my HUGE collection of sweaters. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer, but I’m ready for a change in seasons. You see what I did this past summer, here. Now let’s take a look at Fall!
I volunteered at MondoCon again. I had so much fun meeting fellow poster fans and the very talented artists. I did a lot of running around, but it was totally worth it. This year I only bought two posters (pats self on back). I also got this cool sketch from Scott C. which I freaking love!
Me and Tommy went on our first brewery tour! Blue Owl Brewery is located here in Austin and makes only sour beers. I’m not a big fan of beer, but I did have a lot of fun learning about the beer making process. Our friend Shay joined us on our little adventure, and I think this is the start of many more brewery tours. Oh yeah, and I dyed my hair purple.
One of mine and Tommy’s fall traditions is carving a pumpkin whilst watching a Halloween themed film. This year we did the Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings. Yes, we are that nerdy. Actually , every year we do a nerdy themed pumpkin, one year it was Zelda, the year before that was Dr. Who. I also bullied Tommy into watching a scary movie (he HATES scary movies) , so we watched Oculus which wasn’t that bad.
I’m one of the officers for the Geek Girl Brunch Austin chapter. This month we had our annual Halloween brunch, which was aptly titled “I Put a Spell on You”. I love organizing these monthly brunches, and was very happy to see so many new faces this month. Hanging out with women who share the same hobbies and likes that I do is really nice.
OMFG guys! We finally went to the State Fair! I have been dying to go to the Texas State Fair for over ten years!! But bc of the 3 hour drive and scheduling we have been unable to go…until last month. It was fun, expensive, but fun. I ate a lot of bad food (corny dog, fries, and deep fried snickers) and drank one super amazing pineapple pina colada. I think this trip satiated my need to visit the Fair for at least another ten years.
